Speedpro’s humble beginnings are deeply rooted in a family legacy, which combines hard work, passion, and dedication. It all began with an ambitious man from Abruzzo, Italy, who, driven by a desire for a better life, left his homeland and immigrated to Australia. John Pacella’s story was a familiar one of many migrants at the time, and he sought a fresh start in a land of opportunity.
Settling in Melbourne, John quickly recognised the growing demand for concrete work as the city expanded and transformed. With his skilled hands and traditional Italian craftsmanship, he set up a modest concrete business, working on small residential projects. He wasn’t just working with concrete — he was building his future, pour by pour.
At the heart of this story is his son, Paul, who was introduced to the world of concreting at a young age. When Paul turned 16, his father, ever the patient teacher, began showing him the ropes. He wasn’t just teaching Paul how to mix and lay concrete — he was imparting a work ethic and a sense of pride that would carry on for generations.
The early days were filled with challenges, but through grit and determination, the father and son duo grew their small operation into a well-respected name in Melbourne's concreting scene. Speedpro, appropriately named for our efficiency and precision, quickly became synonymous with quality work. Paul carried his father’s teachings into the next phase of their business, and as they earned the trust of their community, Speedpro became a staple for tier-1 builders in Melbourne's construction industry.

Speedpro, as a business entity, officially started with an office in North Carlton. Having identified a gap in the market for professional concrete contractors, we quickly became a trusted partner to many of Melbourne's most established builders.

Driven by rapid growth and a strategic shift into Tier 1 projects, Speedpro significantly expanded operations, solidifying its position as Melbourne's premier concrete contractor. This marked a key transition from labour-hire to a major industry player.

Speedpro Engineering was established as a service that offers tailor-made structural systems and steel fabrication. This transition has allowed the business to design and manufacture products that promote safety and enhance productivity.
